DISExBSPNTX: Cultivating Change On and Off the Court

On Thursday evening, July 18, 2019, sports and entertainment professionals from across DFW came together at the new Dallas Morning News auditorium for the first event collaboration between Dallas Influencers in Sport and Entertainment (DISE) and Black Sports Professionals North Texas (BSPNTX). The event featured a panel discussion involving the country's foremost thought leaders who have helped shape the current state of diversity and inclusion in the world of sport.

They discussed the progress made by those who have sought level playing fields in and out of competition, and what remains to be achieved. Sport provides a powerful platform to impact society through messages of openness and inclusion, and the panelists discussed the role every individual plays in driving change.

Panelists:

Dr. Richard Lapchick – Director, Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport

Nancy Lieberman – Basketball Hall of Famer, 2018 Big3 Champion/Coach of the Year

Cynthia Marshall – Chief Executive Officer, Dallas Mavericks

Moderated by: Jen Cho - EVP/GM Southwest, Weber Shandwick
